Campaign Story
Hurricane Laura hit land at 1:00am on August 27, 2020 as a Category 5 hurricane. "Hurricane Laura was the strongest hurricane to hit Louisiana in 150 years, the 5th strongest hurricane to hit the US in modern history", Mayor Nic Hunter. The storm surge was not as bad as we expected, however the strength of the storm was far worse than ANYONE expected. The 11 inches of rain the next 2 days did not help anything- this is when ceilings started caving in because there was no time to get tarp on the roofs. The devastation is widespread. People are suffering. They feel forgotten. The pictures being circulated do not do the area justice.
Your donation will help WOMEN in Southwest Louisiana. Gift cards to WalMart, SAMS, Lowe's, Stine, and Home Depot will be purchased and distributed to moms and female owned small business owners in our devastated community. "Every act of KINDNESS grows the SPIRIT and STRENGTHENS the soul." These "Kindness Cards" will be distributed throughout Southwest Louisiana in hopes of lifting spirits, providing relief, and strengthening these tough women's souls. Thank you for your consideration- please don't forget about Lake Charles!
