Hi everyone!! Thank you for coming to my funding page!!
I am a third year adult and child nursing student at the university of Southampton and as part of my training I am travelling to Sri Lanka this summer to volunteer in a hospital in Ambalangoda. I will be working in a medium sized government hospital with over 500 stations 20 doctors and 2 surgeons. I get to work in the emergency department, supporting doctors and nurses in such an intense high pressure environment. I will also get the chance to work in the post natal unit caring for babies who are both sick and well. When I qualify I hope to work as a neonatal nurse so getting to experience this is area in another country would be such an invaluable experience. It has been my dream to nurse abroad since a very young age, I feel it will give me an appreciation for other cultures and allow me to gain skills that I can adapt in my own practice. Nursing is a universal career and I am looking forward to sharing knowledge, skills and prior experience which will help me to develop further as not only a student nurse but in my future career too.
As you can probably tell this trip is going to very expensive, overall it will cost roughly £1500. Most of this I will raise through doing extra health care assistant shifts however due to studying for my degree at the same time any donations would be really really appreciated. I am going with my friend Venuri and we will be fundraising together so look out for any events we will be holding :)
Thank you again!!!
