Hospital Funds for my Grandson

My Step daughter & future Son in Law are in a bit of a dilemma, they have no idea that I am asking for help because they are too proud and would go ballistic if they knew I was doing this.

My eldest Grandson (8 years old) has just been involved in a car accident and has broken 5 bones in his foot, the worst one being his Talus bone. He was airlifted to Alder Hey and has had the required oprations, they had to break his hip to use bone graft to repair his bones in his feet.

They have had to plate his Talus bone and the op went well, but it is now a waiting game to see if his blood supply will return to his foot. We are now praying this this will work as the Surgeon has said if it comes to the worst scenario, they will have to amputate his foot.

They are now suffering financial difficulties because my Son in law has had to go onto Sick leave to look after the other 3 children. My wife and I are helping out as much as possible, having the babies when we can, so that he can get much needed rest.

He is having to travel back & to to Alder Hey so he can be with his partner for a little while as she is staying at the hospital with her Son, he doesn't drive so is having to rely on Friends & Family.

They live in Cumbria, so it is becoming costly to travel there and back. We would love to help out financially, but I only receive a War Pension and my Wife works part time and to add to the pressure our youngest Daughter is due to get married soon, so we are scraping together what funds we have so that she can have a decent Wedding.

We have told them to go and see their Landlord to see if there is anything they could do to offset their rent for the next couple of weeks, but they are too proud to go and ask and are too embarrassed incase people think they can't cope.

Any help however small will be greatfully appreciated.
