Homeless Disabled Single Mom In Need of New Apartment and Moving Costs

Hello everyone My name is LaTonya Sutton and my son's name is Dante. I started this campaign to raise money for Emergency Moving and Rental costs for a new apartment for me and my son. Believe me, asking for assistance of any kind is really hard for me.

I am a single parent who has Cerebral Palsy but I am very independent. I have been taking very good care of my 17 year old son without his fathers assistance. Up until Friday, May 19, 2023, we had been living in our one bedroom apartment for nearly 11 years. Because of the condition of the apartment which also had mold in it and I was complaining to management about it. Eventually, I was told that I had to move in 3 weeks. I got help to move my furniture and other things in storage but my son and I didn't have a place to move to.

My son is a junior in high school and suffers with ADHD with him only having one year left before graduation, enrolling him in a new school would be detrimental to his mental well-being at this point. My desire is for us to remain in the school district that he has grown up in.

Some very close friends of mine agreed to let my son stay with them until I find a new place. But I have no where to live. My son and I stayed at a Motel 6 until Monday, May 22, 2023. Soon after my friends came and got my son. I was told that my room was booked and no other rooms were available. So I happened, to find a Hotel across the street and I stayed there for almost a month. My son is extremely worried about me, because of my disability and he helps me out a great deal. He asked me serveral times, @Mom are we going to be homeless or have to live in a shelter?” I keep telling him no son, it's going to be ok, let's keep praying and trusting God.

This is the first time that Dante and I have ever been separated besides when he goes to Boy Scout meetings, camping or to stay over night with his friends. I am doing everything i can to save up for a new 2-bedroom apartment, but unfortunately, the high rent costs in my area have left me unable to afford the first, last, and security deposit required to move into a new and better place.

As a result, i am turning to the generosity of others to help me and Dante secure a new, safe, and comfortable home. Having a stable and secure home is crucial to both our well-being and daily life. A new apartment would not only provide a safe and healthy living environment, but it would also allow us to focus on our goals and aspirations without the constant worry and stress of our current situation. The pressure of trying to do it alone has gotten to be too overwhelming for me. My faith is strong, but circumstances are wearing me down and time is not on my side at this point.

The goal, though ambitious, is to provide, me with as close to 6 months or more worth of rent as possible. This way, i will not have to worry about paying rent for awhile and that relief will help me and Dante to truly get back on our feet. Any donation will help us to achieve our goal of finding a new home. From the bottom of our hearts, i thank you for your kindness and consideration.
