Homeless college student, studying Nursing and determined NOT to let "homelessness" keep me from my goal of being the first in my family to obtain a college degree.  Have previously been a resident at homeless shelters and SLOWLY but BARELY working my way back up on my feet.  Moved back to Indianapolis Indiana to take care of my mother who suffered from Dementia and early stages of Alzheimers, lived rent free at mother's house in exchange of taking care of my mother, my mother's Social Security and pension were the only income in the house.  My mother passed away, her house fell into foreclosure so I had to move.  No family to take me in or assist with education, but I'm determined NOT to let being homeless and not having family to assistme stop me from reaching my goal of becoming one of the country's professionals who dedicate their lives to assisting the world in preventing serious illnesses and afflictions from ruining the quality of their life as well as maintaining their current health, I'mgoing to become a nurse.      Drugs ,illegal activites, etc. are NOT the way to ensure or try to prevent a proverty sticken and filled life.   But a college education, although NOT a guarantee, certainly can decrease my odds of having proverty grab ahold of me and drag me down to the pit that is frequently extremely difficult to crawl out, especially when you're trying to do it alone with NO family to support or assist you.  I'm just wanting to gain the KNOWLEDGE and skills, more importantly, find a way to "give back" to society in a "POSITIVE" and "PRODUCTIVE" way in exchange for helping me when I down, and who knows maybe even be able to assist someone who has made a donation which has allowed me to reach my goal of becoming a Registered Nurse (RN).      While there's no way to place a "value" on any particular person over another, EVERY human being has value!  I just want to be able assist EVERY HUMAN BEING whose health may be threaten in any way regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, nationality, or religious preferences or beliefs to have one's health is the greatest gift any of us can can or will have despite the fact some take "good health" for granted.  Lastly, I've witnessed first hand the devastating and very sad effects of Dementia and Alzheimers can have on a once very vibrant, productive, independent, and otherwise healthy person. It's EXTREMELY SAD seeing someone you love so much and who did so much for you while they were alive, who in fact constantly made sacrifices so I would not go without sadly wither away as Dementia and Alzheimers increase their grip slowly on your loved one's life and there's absolutely nothing one can do other than basically sit by and watch as the your loved one slowly "slip away".  Lets all pray that a cure is found for these diseases for it truly hurts seeing the last days of a loved one's life here on earth being a time in which their last days on earth are filled with confusion and they don't remember even the simplest details or names and faces of those closest to them and have been by their side.  The latter is espesically true when the loved one carried you in their own body for nine months and thus is responsible for you being left behind to reflect on times and events with them when they were of sound mind and good health.
