Shadow nearly gave his life to save his owners. (His Mommy's)
Shadow and his Mommy were sleeping when they were suddenly awoken to a man banging on and yelling through their bedroom window. Shadow and his mommy went to the front door to investigate. The man was very aggressive towards his mommy. The man unlocked and opened our dog/security gate as if he was going to enter our house. Shadows mommy screamed at the man and told him to leave their home. The man was clearly aggitated, he yelled profanities, and his arms flailed about. It was at that moment that she noticed the box cutter in the man's hand. She grabbed the gate to close it and the man blocked it with his body. Shadow then lunged at the man and a struggle ensued. Shadows mommy was trying to separate the two when she noticed shadow was bleeding. The man cut Shadow two separate times on his back. Both incisions were approximately 5-7 inches in length and about 4 inches deep. The man escaped over a neighbor's back fence. Shadow was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic by animal control where he underwent major sugery. Thankfully they were able to save his life. Shadows mommy refused treatment for minor injuries that occurred during the struggle to be with shadow at the hospital. The man since has been arrested. He was located 4 days later when he called dispatch himself saying that he was attacked by a dog. He made completly false claims as to what occurred, and his story quickly fell apart. He was charged appropriately.
Shadows mommy suffers from mental illness, including major clinical depression, anxiety, and BPD. She is a single Mother to a teenage son and they all reside with her Mother in her home. They both receive social security disability as their only income. His veterinary hospital bill is over $3000.
Shadow was introduced to his Mommy when he was only a puppy, and she fell in love with him immediately! She never had a dog before and was somewhat thrown into the position as he was not being cared for properly by his current owner. Together they have grown to know one another, and since the day that she laid eyes upon him they have been absolutely inseparable. He has given her life purpose, and kept her very busy to where she has not been able to fall back into a deep depression. She could not imagine life without him right there beside her as he always is. Shadow nearly lost his life trying to protect his Mommy. He did what is instinctual to him and thankfully they both made it out with their lives! Please help Shadow and his Mommy by donating whatever you can to pay his overwhelming hospital bills.
