Campaign Story
There is currently a war against womxn in South Africa. Womxn's safety cannot be guaranteed, and the reality is that womxn cannot go anywhere without fearing for their lives - whether it's walking short distances to or from campus, whether it's to the grocery store, whether it's in a club, at a pre-school, post office, or even in your own home. NOWHERE is safe for ANY of the womxn of South Africa.
"This is the breaking point, the 'enough is enough' moment, the time to stand up and say that we WILL NOT tolerate this any longer. We have to deal with this culture of violence against womxn that is so deeply entranced within our society." - N Nkoane
With the money raised, we will be purchasing and distributing units of pepper spray to the womxn at the University of Cape Town who are in need of it. A situation of danger could present itself at any time, and we find it necessary to do our part in making sure that every womxn is prepared to defend themselves in a country that cannot protect us.
Please donate to the cause. But it cannot end here. Keep the narrative alive. It is time to take a stand against gender based violence in South Africa.
"We 're a country with no rainbow, only rain. And that rain is red and warm and bruised between her thighs." - Z D Human
In honour and loving memory of Uyinene Mrwetyana, Jesse Hess, Leighandre Jegels, Lynette Volschenk, Meghan Cremer and all those who have fallen at the hands of gender based violence.
