We are involved in building and creating a grassroots network that will properly equip society to fight against injustice and inequalities against women in other to achieve their goal through positive and social transformation.“ HIALEO-AFRICA & U.S.A believed thatan educated girl has high earning potential, enjoys good health, she is less likely to marry as a teenager, has fewer children, less likely to be a victim of gender based violence, more likely to educate her children and be productive to the community and the country at large.”

PROJECT IMPACT
Over the years, thousands of adolescent girls in Africa are robbed of their childhood, cheated of their right to education, exposed to life threatening health risks and set on a road to a life of servitude and poverty through early and forced marriages. Those marriages lead to teenage pregnancy since the expectation is for a married woman to be pregnant within a year after marriage. Early sexual debut (within or outside marriage) is a known contributing factor to a lot of problems in adolescent reproductive health. Adolescent girls especially from rural areas suffer from sexually related violence at a younger age and this puts their lives at risk, unfortunately this practices are done and justified as a custom, cultural norm or tradition practice and become part of life for many girls.
Over 68% of girls become pregnant before reaching 18 years in Africa. Most are rural girls; they find it challenging to attend antenatal clinic because most health centers environment are not conducive and youth friendly especially for adolescent girls who become pregnant outside the wedlock (unwanted or unplanned pregnancy). Since adolescent girls do not have sufficient information about pregnancies they end up opting for unsafe abortions which may lead to maternal complications and even maternal death. Some prefer to conceal their pregnancy ending up giving birth by them leading to multiple maternal complications and even death; HIV/Aids at the high rate of alert in Africa.
Traditionally girls are expected to be less knowledgeable about their sexuality and to have limited control of their body and sexual life, this includes when and who to marry, when to have sex, number of children, whether to use or not use a condom etc. At a community level, girls receive information about their sexuality during initiation ceremonies. That information is not only usually incorrect, it is also carrying messages on womanhood, marriage and the role of women that are patriarchal, sexist and aiming at preparing girls for a life of subordination and servitude. Wife sale, gift wife are some of the tradition practices secretly practiced in the area. Girls are also raped or defiled by their grannies and cousins because traditionally a grandfather will call his granddaughter his “wife” and this has given room for perpetrators to sexually violate girls.
PROMOTE GIRLS EDUCATION AT THE COMMUNITIES LEVEL:
At the end of the project rural communities women and girls will understand the critical role education play in improving their livelihood, they will also benefit health Education awareness on various diseases, and it will help further the dream of a career or to help them expand their capabilities in their everyday lives.
IMPROVE ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT THROUGH SKILLS TRAINING:
When Girls and Women are trained in small business skills; they will not be marginalized economically, this will reduce poverty. Their earnings – mainly from agriculture produces and other small businesses will help them stand independently on economic challenges which will not limit women to access financial resources and ownership. Economic empowerment is a vital part of HIALEO-AFRICA & U.S.A stand to combat against low income family in other to stop child marriage, end hunger, and facilitate economic stability in households, we hope to lower the economic incentives that drive families towards teenage pregnancy, child labor and early children marriages.
HELP PREVENT GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE, CHILD MARRIAGE, AND TEENAGE PREGNANCY AT THE COMMUNITIES LEVEL:
Due to structural gender inequality reinforced by cultural norms and practices, gender-based violence is now occurring in almost every household across Africa. Its infringement on female rights and resulting hurt and damage seeps beyond physicality and at its root, devalues women and their right to live without violence. Harmful practices created by cultural norms such as Female Genital Mutilation, child marriage can increase teenage pregnancy in Communities; it is unfortunately that such common practices are still taking place in Africa today. HIALEO-AFRICA & U.S.A firmly takes a stance against such a practice as it hugely violates children’s rights and exposes many young girls to dangers that are physically, emotionally and psychologically abuse. At the end of this project Girls and Women will fully understand sex education at the primary level in various training sections.
