Helping Isabella

Meet Isabella. She is a 9 month old English Bulldog that was surrendered to us by her breeder. We were originally told that she would randomly have a bowel movement when walking or just sitting but it was no big deal. While in her foster home we discovered that she could not hold her urine or bowels, so she was immediately taken to a vet for an evaluation. The first two vets stated that she had nerve damage and had no anal or bladder tone and Blue Pearl said Tethered Cord Syndrome. We decided to take her to MU for a evaluation after learning that there was a surgery for Tethered Cord Syndrome. MU stated that Isabella has likely been incontinent all of her life, this lesion is most likely a congenital malformation. Possible differentials include spina bifida, a compressive cyst, tethered cord syndrome, or some other soft tissue/bony malformation affecting the nearby nervous tissue. Advanced imaging can be performed to better determine the specific congenital malformation. Although the cause for her incontinence may be diagnosed via MRI, there may not be a successful surgical treatment option for Isabella.

After giving this a lot of thought, we feel Isabella deserves a chance at a normal life if at all possible. The first step is getting a MRI. Unfortunately, the MRI will cost 1500.00 which is more than our rescue can afford. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to our rescue for our sweet Isabella.
