To raise fund for Dennis’ medical and recovery expenses

Update posted by Apple Valeroso On Aug 28, 2020

Hi everyone,

Dennis' peek cranioplasty last 19th August was successful. It was more than 4hrs. He was transferred in high dependency ward for 24hrs after the surgery, to drain some blood from the surface of the brain and to monitor his vitals. Some patients with previous brain operation has a high chance of comatose. But he was awake after few hours of operation. So next day he was transferred to general ward.

August 24th, he was transferred to rehabilitation center, to regain his strength and recover his speech and mobility.

As of the moment his blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen are stable and in normal range. He still can't speak a word even though tracheo opening in his throat was closed and healed. He is having difficulty in urine and pass motion after surgery. He is in soft diet. He also lost his appetite. But is doing well in his walking session therapy.

He had renal ultrasound today. The result is normal - no renal problem, means renal is not a root cause of hypertension.

Please continue to pray for complete healing and full recovery of his speech and mobility.

"Heavenly Father,

I come before you and I ask that you would forgive us of all our sins. I know that we have sinned against you, and you alone; I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. Thank you for your forgiveness and for dying on the cross so that I may be forgiven.

Right now, I lift up to you, Dennis Dela Rosa Dolor. Lord he needs a healing touch over his body. I pray that you would continue to heal his brain, protect him from infections/complications, heal his wounds, eliminate his discomfort, shift his emotions to happiness, stabilize his vitals, provide his every need, recover his speech and mobility, in the Holy name of Jesus. It is by your stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5).

I thank you in advance for the healing and recovery that is going to take place. Thank you for being the ultimate healer and restorer over our physical bodies. It is only through Jesus Christ name that we are healed.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen."

Aug. 6 tracheo tube was removed. Aug. 7 they start soft food diet. Aug 18 NGT (nasal tube) was also removed.

He can't speak, his right leg has minimal strength for walking (still needs PT support), and his right arm is also weak.

Aug. 19 Dennis will undergo peek cranioplasty, morning at 8am. Operation will last for about 4hours. The risks of this operation are bleeding, water retention that pressures the brain and infection. He will be sedated and intubated during operation. According to the Surgeon, patients that previously had brain operation has sensitive brain. And effect of sedation depends on his sensitivity. If he wakes up after the operation he will be transferred to general ward. But if not, he will be transferred to high dependency ward (lower class than ICU).

Please continue to pray for his successful operation, complete healing and full recovery.

Hi.

August 5, Dennis managed to tolerate the closed speaking valve for 24hrs. So next day, his tracheo tube was wean off. Aug. 7, he undergo an assessment called FEES (fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing). Speech Therapist checked if the swallowed soft food will passes to the right direction. His swallowing is good, they start his soft food 5pm today. Still in NGT, in case he don't like to eat, they will still feed him milk thru the nose tube.

He is now good in balancing his body. Right kneecap is using minimal strength for walking but still need PT's support in lifting his right foot to move forward. They have plan of transferring him to the rehabilitation center next week.

His final cranioplasty is not yet scheduled. They want to trachea to be fully healed before they do the implant.

Thank you for your continuous support and prayers.

To God be the glory!

Dennis was transferred yesterday to a sub-acute ward. Monitoring of oxygen, blood pressure and heart rate will be every nurse shift (about 3 times per day). He sometimes have an on and off slight fever due to infection in catheter and scratched stitches in his head. But most of the time he is stable.

He feels frustrated because his left hand was always with mitten and tied to the bed. He can't scratch when he feels itchy. His dermatitis was triggered because of milk enteral feeding.

Therapy - occupational therapy, physio therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy, is on going everyday for about less 30 mins. each session. They are teaching him to balance and use more strength from his right side of the body.

Temporarily, part of his left skull opened in cranio was only covered by his scalp. His custom made PEEK (poly-ether-ether ketone, organic plastic with the same strength as human skull) for his craniotomy was ordered and will be received by next month. Neuro Surgeon will schedule the surgery after they receive the PEEK. Probably by end of August or early September. (This Surgery was previously scheduled December.)

He can manage to tolerate the speaking valve to his tracheo pipe for 1 hour twice a day. Next trial will be 4hrs per day, 8hrs per day, until he can manage to tolerate full day everyday. This tracheo will be permanently remove few months after the final cranio.

Please continue to pray for his complete healing and full recovery. May the good Lord take away any discomfort and infection. May Dennis learn to trust God more and accept his calling.

Thank you so much for each and everyone who's praying and helping us. God bless you all. To God be the glory!

Dennis was transferred to Acure Care ward from June 21 and transferred to general ward on June 26.

No more oxygen support since June 24. His own oxygen count is very good - 92 to 97 (normal range is 95).

Blood pressure is above normal but controlled. June 27, heart rate is hitting 125 when coughing. But less 100 when sleeping. He looks more conscious maybe that's why his heart rate is high and maybe also because he has white collar syndrome. Today June 28, heart rate is back to normal. BP is normal also.

He has a bedsore and a diarrhea due to antibiotic.

His right leg and right fingers seldom have involuntary movements. When inflicted with pain, it has stimulus. His cognitive is getting better everyday.

Thank you for continuous prayers and support. To God be the Glory!

Update as of June 19.

Good am. Yesterday his sedation was low and they are trying to less his dependency of breathing via mech vent. Since he is half awake half a sleep, he keeps on moving his left hand and left foot. But because of his activity, it cause him to have a blood pressure slightly above normal. Still brain pressure is low which is very good. When nurses call him by name, he will open his eyes, looking very sleepy. The Brain Surgeon informed us that he need to undergo tracheostomy (opening to lower part of adams apple). It will help him to have less infection in his lungs and it will be a little bit easier to breath than having the tube on his mouth. Initial schedule will be later today or on Monday. His body temp is 37 to 37.7, much better than previous day. I in behalf of all the family is asking for your time to continuesly pray for his complete healing and recovery. I will be forever grateful for your generosity. God bless us.

Good pm. Salamat po sa lahat ng nagdadasal.

June 16, 12:55pm

BP via vein 133/70, BP via arm 117/65 (thank you God), brainPressure 6 (less 20 is stable), bodyTemp37.50.

Brain angiogram was postponed because BP shoots up when lying flat on bed. Blood test is okay. Possible tracheostomy for proper breathing and to prevent lung infection.

Please continue to pray.
