Our English Bully puppy, Leonidas (4 months) is cute, loving, caring and compassionate. He is very grateful every time he is fed. He is smart and potty trained and loves people, especially his owners. He is protective and hears every sound and is first to always investigate it.
Leonidas was born with a double hernia. This is basically two large holes in his abdomen where his intestines protrude. We were given a timeline as to when the surgery would become necessary which helped us try to save and budget for it.
However, his most recent vet visit (Vaccination) came as an unexpected suprise. We were told that the hernia was getting bigger and as such the vet insisted that we do the surgery as soon as possible before it becomes to large to operate which would become life threatening.
We have tried raising as much as we could in many different ways but the cost of the surgery is proving difficult with the follow up costs of the difficulties experienced during his surgery.
We have pet insurance but unfortunately they are only willing to cover a very small percentage of this specific condition/surgery. They also require payment to be made first before submitting a claim.
Since the surgery, he has difficulty breathing due to the pipe that went down his throat as well as an extremely inflamed chest which is taking away his appetite. He is also diagnosed with Hypoplastic Trachea which means his trachea is a lot smaller than average.
Since his surgery, we have taken him in for cortozone injections as well as more medication to assist with his chest, the coughing as well as the pain. He will also need to go back to remove the 30 stitches.
Even through all of this, he is still happy and playful and loving and wants continuous cuddles every day.
Please find it in your heart to help us help Leonidas.
We appreciate it.
