Hi there - well firstly I would like to say thanks so very much for taking the time to read this! I will start with a bit about me and what has brought me here - basically I am 31 years old, and spent my 20's exploring a few different areas in which to forge a career, however progressively failing health hampered my efforts at almost every turn; I had to leave jobs and also in the end university, due to failing health. I have always worked and where I had to leave a job I always got another, but this situation didn't allow for any real progress in any one area unfortunately. I have three health conditions, one of which means that my immune system does not work very effectively at times and I can get ill more easily than most, and worse than most. There is no cure for my conditions - I can only manage them as best I can; of the three I am happy to mention two of them - one is hyposplenism and the other coeliac disease (they are both related in terms of cause). It has been very hard as I have been so desperate to establish myself in a discipline/career and progress as I have always done well in my work and studies and believe that I could do very well, but just haven't really had the chance. However, (and it is a big however!), some time ago I came over a wonderful book on nutrition and I tried some of the recommendations made in the book, after self diagnosing using the tools therein, and I found that my health improved massively - so much so I was quite amazed and so were those close to me, who had been on my journey with me - for once I was getting better instead of worse and making real progress! I have spent the best part of the last few years improving my health through an ongoing and in depth study of nutrition, and integrating this knowledge into my lifestyle, and I am now ready to take my studies to the next level and I very much hope to become a Nutritional Therapist. However there is one massive barrier - and its a financial one - basically all of the courses are £8000 - £9000 here in the UK (Please see the following colleges for a reference - The Northern College of Acupuncture, The Institute of Optimum Nutrition, The College of Naturopathic Medicine) and even though they allow monthly payments there's no way I can afford it - they are £230 per month minimum - and I have a £70 monthly disposable income once I have paid for my bills and food etc and always need that for other things such as toiletries and dental appointments etc; and that's what brings me to asking for funding on this website - I actually have a great job as a Support Worker with young adults with autism and I love it, but being in the Voluntary Sector the wages are very low and like I say, despite working five days per week I have no money left over at all, therefore if I have any chance of getting out of poverty and into a career in which I know I can do a lot of good, I need your help - and I would be forever grateful for it! You may be wondering why I can't get a career develoment loan, or the like, to pay for the course I would like to do - however as I have had financial issues due to years of not so good health, I am in a bit of debt and unable to obtain any more credit, and nor would it be responsible to obtain more, even if I could. So this all brings me to my 'project' here, and it is one where my focus is to get a shot at forging a real career - finally! But one where I can do a great deal of good, and hopefully help others like myself, through working with wholefoods and daily nourishment, to obtain a real quality of life, and make real progress!
