Although hunting was banned in 2004, there are hunts up and down the country who continue to chase and kill animals for fun, under the guise of “trail-hunting” where they claim to be following a trail laid for the hounds to follow. In reality they are just hunting foxes, hare and deer safe in the knowledge that their “sport” takes place well away from the public’s view.
Wildlife Witness is a group of volunteers who take on the role of attending hunts, filming their activities and sharing the images on social media to bring the horrors of hunting in to the public domain. When we have clear evidence of illegal hunting we pass on the information to the police.
This monitoring often takes place under considerable intimidation from hunt supporters who are desperate to protect their sick sport.
Since being set up, Wildlife Witness have never asked supporters for any financial support but we desperately need new equipment to keep up the pressure on the hunts. Video cameras and trail-cams are vital to our work and we need both. Fuel costs for attending hunts have always been paid out of our monitors own pockets but with literally thousands of miles being travelled every season we need to help share the costs for that too.
You can be assured that every penny donated will be used directly in our campaign to expose the myth of trail-hunting and stop illegal hunting.
