Help Us with Our Traditional Wedding

Us:

My fiance and I have been together for over 5 years. Last year he joined the military and became a Marine. He is currently stationed in Okinawa, and will be there for 2 years. Just recently we found out that he will be returning home this August 2014 to for a month; giving us the chance to wed and get a place together. At this moment we don't have anything saved up, with this being so last minute.

My parents are traditional and expect us to do our wedding traditionally and properly (to show repect for our parents and elders). We both also would love a traditional wedding since our culture is dying with the new generation but that can cost up to $10,000. Usually the groom's parents pay a dowry to the parents of the bride, which is $5,000 (could be more) and the other $5,000 goes towards the wedding for the bride and groom. In our situation, my fiance's parents are not around anymore, meaning he will have to pay for everything. If we don't save up $10,000 but August we have decided to disobey our culture and wed secertly, without anyone knowing until we can afford both the dowery and wedding.
