. This little guy was found by a group of caring schoolteachers. He had been abandoned outside of a school -- terribly matted, filthy, and flea-ridden. Baxter was also suffering from a badly broken leg that had been that way a long time. This lucky boy truly owes his life to the ladies who stepped up to help him, when they easily could have turned a blind eye to his suffering like so many other people did. Baxter has now been fixed up and cleaned up, and he is like a whole new dog! He is the happiest little guy. He seems to know that his life has changed for the better! The only thing left to do before Baxter can be adopted is to fix his leg. We took him to an orthopedic specialist today (Saint Francis Veterinary Specialists in Decatur, GA). His fracture is old and complicated, but can be surgically repaired using a bone graft, a metal plate and screws. If the procedure is successful, Baxter should be almost as good as new. The vet is very hopeful about the outcome. The only issue is money. Today's initial visit was $400, and the estimated cost of surgery is between $3100 and $3600. We used up our "rainy day fund" last week helping a little dog named Jax who had a broken pelvis. We want to give sweet Baxter the same opportunity for maximum healing like Jax got, but we need your help. Please chip in to help us help Baxter. Your contribution is tax-deductible, and every penny will go directly to help Baxter. We, and he, thank you for your generosity and support!
