Hello everyone and thank you for clicking on this page and for taking the time to read this!
As you may know we are taking Ellipsis to Blue Elephant Theatre in London this late October!! Wohoo! Hence why we have decided to launch this fundraising campaign.
Description
The show follows the story of Emma, an ambitious corporate woman at the top of her game, who excels at every aspect of her life. However, things change when the rise of a mysterious epidemic begins to ravage the world and the memories of her past. Ellipsis is a piece that stresses the importance of emotions in modern day interactions. This includes the notable societal pressure to follow the norm and the strong desire to appear "perfect". The plot is influenced by the 1980's AIDS epidemic and its effect on people living in metropolitan areas, as a way to explore society's apathy and indifference over the life of others. In the story the main source of positive emotions is shown through music as the main character reminisces her cherished piano she used to play with her dad. The play proposes that Emma is losing her humanity (emotions) as she continues to be immersed in a vicious world.
The show takes the form of a ensemble, physical theatre piece. We will adopt a minimalistic style, but incorporate elements of projection, light, sound and embrace the plays ensemble as a part of the set/world of the play. The elements we will utilize, whilst they are minimal, they are key to representing the only source for Emma to inform herself about the events outside of her own egocentric world. These elements will combine to create an atmosphere of claustrophobia, control and sterilisation, except for the moments of freedom and play that Emma finds through her memories and music.
Why should I support?
Our team has defied all borders From England to Poland to Palestine to Mexico. You will be supporting the work of international artists as well as help a platform that allows these artists to take their stories to wider audiences.
If you feel interested about the themes of this play, such as commentary on modern society, dystopian stories, female-led, intercultural pieces, mental health and challenging stories then your support will take those ideas on stage!
Your support will guarantee the creation of a quality piece of theatre and our eventual transfer to a bigger venue for more audiences to inspire themselves with the story of Emma.
Why now?
This story reflects a society ravaged by mental health disorders. Anxiety, stress, depression and other mental health disorders are becoming more present in our day to day life. It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the past week experienced a common mental health problem.
We aim to explore society's shallow and materialistic traits and its relationship with mental well-being. We also want this piece to provoke our audiences, create awareness of the dangers of living up to some sort of image and challenge our audiences to consider the ways in which our communities and urban groups interact nowadays.
Who is it for?
People interested in dystopian fiction (Brave New World, 1984, Years and Years, etc.)
People with an interest in sociology, psychology, philosophy
Young professionals (25-35 years old)

People with an interest or relation in intercultural pieces or international artists. (European)
