Help Us Create Awareness To Prevent The Preventable Cancer

Hi Friends,

As most of you know I, along with other friends started CAPED 2.5 years back with the intention of spreading awareness towards prevention and early detection of women’s cancer. Since our inception, we have focused only on Cervical Cancer so far. Over the last two years, we reached out to 10,000 women, and felt that we are not even scratching the surface. So this year, we are upping the ante, and are aiming to reach out to at least 100,000 women, and also aiming to screen 1000+ women with the hope that even if we save a few lives, it is worth it in the end.

We have so far been very frugal in our approach like any start-up. We did workshops, participated in events, partnered with other organizations, attempted some channels of mass outreach, but this year are taking two significant initiatives:

• Use of video to spread the message – We are in the process of releasing a short video to educate women (and men alike) on how easy it is to prevent cervical cancer, and plan to spread it through social media and also offline locations
• Screening women in bastis with the help of hospitals and diagnostic agencies.

So far, all of it has been done on meagre budget. But at the end, only so much can be done on our own resources and to create the 10x effect this year, we are reaching out to friends and family for support. Our objective through this campaign is to raise Rupees 10 lakh (US$15,000).

We do recognize that each one of you get many requests for funding, and completely appreciate that not every cause is equally close to your heart. So while we of course would be delighted to have you contribute, please do not feel compelled to do so.
