Hello everyone, I’m Ruslan and my family is about to lose our home

For the past few years my life was very rough, some things I managed to overcome, and some things I did not. What I’m facing right now is probably the worst and I’m really tired of it all, but still I’m fighting.

As I mentioned earlier, my name is Ruslan, I’m 25 years old and I live in Ukraine. I want to give you a bit of backstory on how we ended up in this situation at all.

It all started long ago, when I was around 13-14 years old, police accused my mom of stealing a huge amount of money from the government, which is a lie, but she was still sentenced to 10 years in prison. The reason for this all were her competitors, who decided to put her and her company out of business through corrupt police and judges. And when even the evidence of her innocence didn’t help, the only thing left for her to do was to go on the run from the police. Before doing so she transferred the ownership of her company to my sister so they could still do business, for a few years I was living with her.

At this point you may start to wonder where’s my dad’s place in this story. Well, he was missing, I didn’t see him for the most of my life, only when I became 22 I finally met him. We’ll get back to him later

My sister Maria was taking care of me during the time my mother was on the run, she provided me with things I needed to live and study like a normal kid. I was, of course, still missing my mom a lot.

During school everything was more or less fine, all before I entered college, this was the time when my sister found herself a boyfriend. They quickly married and at the first time he seemed like a fairly nice guy. Until we found out he was a drug addict. This pushed my sister to make a decision to put him into a rehab. One day early in the morning she called the rehab center stuff to come pick him up. I was still sleeping this being 6am, until my sister ran into my room with our dog and closed the door. Apparently, her husband heard what she was saying on the phone and flew into rage, picked up a knife from the kitchen and tried to murder her. We stayed there in our room for an hour with him kicking and hitting the door with the knife and screaming “I’M GOING TO KILL YOU” before rehab workers arrived with our grandparents. It took 20 minutes more to disarm and restrain him before they took him away.

After such a horrible thing you of course think my sister must have left this beast. Unfortunately, she was pregnant with his child at the moment.

After about a year he came back, became even more aggressive and unstable than before. And my sister has given birth to his kid around that time

After his comeback my life became a living hell. I was going to college and also had to babysit their child. I had to do a tone of work both for college and home, sister’s husband was beating me if I rested for more than 10 minutes, most of the days I slept 3-4 hours on average and barely ate anything (at one point I weighted 40kg with my height being of ~190). This continued for 4 years.
Eventually, my mom come back. Thanks to my sister’s husband, surprisingly. He somehow solved my mother’s problems with law (the only good thing he ever did), the court still gave her a suspended term of 4 years, but that’s still better than prison. She started sharing house chores with me and, just like me, didn’t rest for a moment.

Then my sister give birth to the second kid, so more work for me and my mom.

Once I graduated from college I started working with my sister. Life became even more hellish: I was waking up at 6am to help with kids, then go to work, coming back home I was babysitting kids till 1am, after that I had to clean the house and was finishing around 2am. I spent the little free time I had with my online friends and to sleep. And after that everything repeated itself

Life took an easier turn in 2020 when my grandparents rented an apartment for me so I could live free of babysitting and all of the house work I was put on. And it was really nice to finally live your own life without any supervisors, I had time to care for myself now and more time to spend with friends. I was my own master at last. There was only one issue – my mother was still with my sister, and now she was doing all of that work alone.

This is where my dad makes his entrance into all of this. One day he contacted my mom and said he wants to meet her. My sister was highly against it as she thought my dad wasn’t a good person. Still, my mom met up with him. Needless to say, my sister was furious and for that she kicked my mom from the house she herself built. And so, my mom, and our dog that my sister kicked out alongside her, moved in with me.

Around here I lost my job, it was difficult to pay the rent, so my mom started looking for opportunities and found one. She started working as a company director for my dad’s friend. There was one problem though – he didn’t pay her. She decided to try and write out checks for herself so we don’t lose the apartment but this didn’t go well. Her boss accused her of stealing and demanded everything to be given back, which was around 2500 dollars. To solve this, I made a decision to take a loan of 3000$, I paid 2500 to my mom’s boss and the 500 left went for the rent. My mom was fired from that job of course, and now we lived without any source of money again. We started taking one loan after another just to get by.

After some time, my mom found out that my sister didn’t pay for trademark patent, so we submitted documents to get it back, and this was when a lot of bad shit started to happen, my sister even attempted to murder me on several occasions, but I won’t go into details on this.

At some point my sister called me and suggested a deal to buy her half of the house for 50K dollars. We agreed to this, took a new loan for 75K and bought my sister’s half. Unfortunately, on the very next day we both got coronavirus, my mom was in very bad condition. We managed to recover well from this but it costed us almost 2 months of time. After we recovered, we went back to now fully our house

There still was a money problem, so my mom started a new company with a help of some old contacts. We got it up from scratch and managed to get up and running. Things were looking fine until my sister made her appearance once again and Russian invasion started. She accused us of having no rights for the trademark we were using that she herself didn’t pay and lost rights for. She took this to court. From 2021 to 2023 there were 5 hearings and my sister lost in all of them. This cost us a lot of money nevertheless, and you don’t make that much money with a business in a country in a state of war. We once again had only enough to get by and not enough to pay for the loans, all while the interest was adding up.

This is about how I ended up here – with a still looming family conflict and 200K dollars debt. We were trying to sell the house to pay off the loan, but due to war no one really wants to buy a new house in Ukraine. We couldn’t dance around the lender anymore and recently got an ultimatum – either we pay by the end of march or we lose the house. The house that we had to buy back from insane people and where all of my sane family currently resigns (me, my parents, grandparents and 3 dogs). And unfortunately, it’s a private lender, not a bank, so the wartime laws about loans don’t apply to them.

This is where I ask for your help. I’m asking for the kindness of you, stranger, as my last resort. If you can share this, do something to help the algorithm or send my family even just a dollar we’ll be eternally grateful. Thank you.

P.S. You maybe wondering why I ask for 200.000$ if document says 100.000$, It's because to pay out one loan i took another one, and I have few of them and in total all of them is around 200.000$, maybe 198.000$ + taxes. And I need to pay out all of them.

$3000 for a new contract

Update posted by Ruslan Zaglinskiy at 07:52 am

I made a little agreement with the lender, and by April 11th I need to collect $3,000, they are needed to renew the contract with the lender, then I can extend the contract for 1 year, which is better than losing the house now.
