Help to make my dad’s home handicapped accessible and fix the handicapped van

Hi, I am Angel. I am raising money for my dad Eric Yerk. My dad has always been a hard working man. Very kind, loving, respectful, and just all around full of life. He would always do his best to help people if he could even if he was having a hard time himself. My dad He has two kinds conjestive heart failures. One due to genetics and the other caused by chemo from stage 3 testicular cancer. He has battled this cancer for four years. Because of nearly fatal side effects he decided to stop the chemo. He still has cancer. In 2014 he had open heart surgery that replaced to valves and a stint to his aortic vein. In 2015 he had knee replacement surgery that led to 9 knee surgeries and finally an amputation.

He was recently in the hospital with more medical issues and sent to a rehabilitation center to work on getting his strength back but was shipped out after a couple of days as his health would not permit him to excise long enough for their requirements. He was put in a nursing home near home but they did not want to keep him as the lift used to move him broke. Several other nursing homes turned him down because he had too many Dr. appointments to Columbia for cancer and heart. So that meant with no place to go he had to come home.

His home is falling apart and is not set up for his handicapped needs. We had been making due in hopes to eventually fix it up. This has not happened because his health keeps getting in the way. My step mom and brother need to build two rooms onto the house for his handicapped needs. One being a shower room for him to roll into and get clean, as well as place for him to be able to use a toilet safely. He needs a bedroom that would be big enough to have a lift for the bed.

Medicaid does not cover his needs for assistive equipment. He needed a hospital bed and they did send one but it was twin size. It was too small for his size, he does not fit in it. He needs a lift to get him out of his chair and bed. He needs a handicapped shower room and toilet. His handicapped van needs some repair so I can get him to Dr. app.

My dad does not usually ask for help and he would want me to take this down. He does not want to ask for help but I am asking for help. Please help us make him as comfortable as possible and help make things a little easier on my step mom, brothers and myself. She is working as a Paraprofessional hoping to go onto teaching. While helping raise her young granddaughter. We are trying to take care of dad and at some point the dog, the cats, the plants, the house and maybe her just a little. So if you could help me with this I would be so very thankful.
