Hello everyone, I have been providing childcare in some capacity for over 10 years. I am experienced with infants, toddlers and school age children. I began working with a family approximately one year ago providing childcare for their 2 month old son twice a week. Their needs, however, were far greater than the time I had agreed to assist. They needed care on sick days, emergency work meeting and just the simple date nights. I quickly realized that there was an enormous need for back-up childcare. Many families were looking a many different places to find care for different occasions. I decided to centralize all types of back-up childcare services onto one site for easy accessibility. I have recently taken on the venture of starting an emergency childcare service business to help all families but mainly to focus on low income families. I grew up in a low-income family so I know how hard it is for parents to afford child care when needed. I've seen one too many news stories about parents who cannot afford childcare having to leave their children at home alone to go out to work. I believe that with your help we can help to prevent many tragedies that often occur with unsupervised children at home. My company provides backup care for emergencies, to care for sick children and for events. My business will also create jobs for individuals who have chosen to dedicate their lives to care for children.

HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE USED:

Starting up any business carries various expenses. I have already paid for the very basics. I paid for a domain name for the website and the application process to register the business in Virginia. It is a very long process that I am still currently going through. I plan to use the funds to pay for background checks from the Virginia State Police and Child Protective Service in Virginia to ensure each child is safe with the caregiver. I will also request driving records for every sitter that will be preforming drop-off and pick-up services for the families. Every sitter needs to attend and obtain certification in CRP and First Aid as an employment requirement and the funds would be used to pay for these classes also. Lastly I need to purchase office supplies, such as stationary, stamps as I will be sending the families a copy of the sitters’ credentials and CRP and First Aid certifications for their records. My company will be serving families in the District of Columbia Metro Area (Maryland and Virginia included).

Thank you in advance for all of your time and help!
