Help Tita Tote Fight the Big C

Breast cancer with bone metastases.

Those words left us devastated. Shattered.

Nothing can ever prepare you for those words. You'll realize life is short. Really short.

My tita, Mrs. Josephine Duhilag, 56, a devoted mother to two sons, living in Bulacan Philippines, is one of those tita that would lovingly prepare food for you whenever you go to her house unannounced. Life is good. Everything's going well until January 2021. She started experiencing pain in multiple parts of her body. Somedays it would be on her pelvic area, other times the knees, the wrist, everywhere. Thinking of money that would be spent to the doctors, she just endured it for more than a month.

February 23, 2021, the day she began having shortness of breath. She had difficulty of breathing specifically at night. She was hospitalized and the diagnosis was Pneumonia. Our family were relieved. She was treated and came out of the hospital feeling better but the doctor sensed there's something else in my tita that might causing this. Doctor ordered some tests and on March 2021 she was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer.

March 11,2021 she was hospitalized again because of pleural effusion, a complication brought by cancer. Chest tube was inserted to drain the fluids. 1200mls of fluid was collected, she can breathe better now but still with the support of nasal cannula. The fluid were sent to be tested. The doctor told us that if the fluid is caused by cancer, she will undergo chemotherapy. If not, she can have the surgery to remove her breast.

This is really a very tough time for us family. We were in denial at first but we know that the only solution to this is to accept the situation we are all in. We love our tita Tote very much that is why I am humbly knocking into your kind hearts for any donation that you can give. Even small amount can go a long way. This can help extend the life of our dear tita Tote.

We know this is just the start of her C journey and we will never give up.
