Campaign Story
Tinnie, Tiny , Ma. Cristina or Tin for most of us is a sweet, caring and jolly person. She is a loving wife to Neil and a doting “Mimi” to her children, Bea and Lucas. For her friends ,she would always go the extra mile to be with them be it physically or virtually. She never runs out of fun stories to tell that no road trip is tiring and boring. You will always be engaged with her kuwentos.:) With all these beautiful traits she has, it is only right that we join hands and find ways to help our dear Tin-tin in her battle against cancer .
Before the end of 2020, Tin started to feel excruciating back pains. She underwent different therapy sessions and was given pain meds as her doctor initially thought the back pains could have been caused by an injury from her workout and other strenuous physical activities. Fast forward to February 2021, she was still under a lot of pain and can hardly move. She had to be admitted to the hospital because of a blood clot (deep vein thrombosis) in her left arm. While in the hospital, multiple tests including MRI and CT scan were made to help the doctors analyze fully her medical condition. After the test results were out, from being managed by an Ortho doctor for months, she was now endorsed to a Hematologist-Oncologist. Tin according to the doctors, has Stage 4 Metastatic Colon Cancer and the cancer cells have aggressively spread to her bones and lymph nodes.Hers is a rare case that even with the advanced tests that are available, the doctors are having a hard time confirming the main cause of her illness and the cause of the rapid spread of the cancer cells.
Tin will need to undergo 12 cycles of chemo therapy every 2 weeks. Each cycle of the treatment plus the medicines and hospitalization would cost around 130-150 thousand pesos. The doctors also recommend for a genomic profiling to identify if there are gene mutations that are causing this kind of cancer. Here they will send tissue sample to the US where the profiling will be conducted. The result from this profiling will help the doctors determine a more targeted chemo treatment for Tin which hopefully will produce better outcome and will help speed up her recovery. But while they wait for the results of the profiling, the chemo sessions will need to begin as soon as possible.
Fighting an illness requires mental, emotional, and physical strength. Unfortunately, it also requires money. With this, we appeal to your kind hearts to help our dear Tin with her medical expenses.
Any amount you will donate would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to Tin’s medical cost and other related expenses.
