Campaign Story
On 5 February 2016 a collapse occurred at Lily Mine near Barberton trapping three workers. Although rescue efforts started shortly after, the ground was too unstable and the efforts to rescue Pretty Nkambule, Solomon Nyarenda and Yvonne Mnisi had to stop. Since then the mine employees have been waiting for their salaries to be paid. Having only recieved R650 ($42) thus far to feed their families these people have been forced to sell furniture and other items to put food on the table. With no hope of this crisis ending anytime soon the small community of Barberton stepped up to the plate and are doing their best to help the families.
The money from this funding effort will help these families through this crisis. It will help us to not only provide food and basic necessities for the people but also the 46 dogs and 35 cats that are caught up in this disaster.
