These players started playing rugby through the Lao Rugby Federation’s Champa Ban powered by ChildFund Pass It Back programme, a youth rugby program combining life skill lessons with rugby practice. Many Nagas players are still in the program as Coaches and players working to delivering the ChildFund Pass It Back rugby and life skills curriculum to teams of 11-16-year-olds in their own communities.
The squad will be made up of players from Vientiane and from Xieng Khouang, a rural province in Northeast Laos where a new club, (Xieng Khouang RFC) was recently registered to support more than 50 girls’ aged between 11-16 years old .
This opportunity represents the first chance these girls have ever had to travel internationally, let alone play competitive rugby against teams from all over Asia.
Please help where you can. If not financially, you can help with equipment. Laos women's rugby is badly in need of boots, gum shields, scrum hats, body armor and sports bra's, all of which are almost impossible to get locally. RedBox Storage, Hong Kong's premier self storage company has committed to be the title sponsor for this team, as well as consolidate any kit donations made. Look for the RedBox Storage boxes throughout the tournament and please give generously.
Thank you !
