Help the Children of Venezuela

I am a passionate and grateful American compelled to help make a difference in the lives of neglected children suffering in one of Venezuela’s most impoverished areas which has been devastated due to the humanitarian crisis taking place in the country. Unfortunately this isn't well publicized in the United States or the rest of the world, and we have a real opportunity to make a positive impact on a population so helpless and in need.

Right now, and for the past few years, Venezuela has been under the rule of a devastating dictatorship that has lead to a dire situation where access to food, medicine and basic healthcare has become almost non-existent for the majority of the population. The inflation rate in Venezuela is the highest in the world, reaching an unimaginable 1,370,000% in 2018 (compared to previous year) and is getting worst everyday. People are not only dying of hunger but there is a complete lack of security as violence is rampant due to desperation. It’s this situation that makes our support so important and transformative in the lives of the youth most effected.

Living in the neighboring country of Panama for the past 7 years I have had first hand experiences getting to know a diverse group of Venezuelans from a variety of different economical and social backgrounds, all of who have fled their country due to the crisis. They have shared with me their stories of leaving loved ones behind, having family and friends suffering, and so many deaths resulting from malnutrition, lack of medicine and violence.

Being greatly impacted by these people and their stories, I’ve been compelled to take action and started a project called “Sueña Mi Gente” which aims to help underprivileged and high-risk kids in an area called "Petare". With a population of 369,000, Petare is not only one of the largest, poorest and most densely inhabited neighborhoods in Venezuela, but is regarded as one of the largest slums in the world. With the children of this area in mind, this project was born with the idea of supporting their well being and safety by creating nurturing environments where they can learn, explore their creativity, receive proper nutrition, and above all, provide them the freedom to dream.

With the generous donations received in our first round of fundraising and the help of a great group of like-minded passionate volunteers consisting of residents in the area, in our first year we’ve already been able to create many very successful events ( Click To See Photos ) and have seen how impactful they can be. For the kids these activities and workshops not only offer them refuge from their everyday struggle but also provide them with a foundation to develop new skills and relationships.

We've seen how their attitudes and outlook on life have changed as a result of being part of this project. They've developed a stronger sense of community and compassion for others. Additionally, we've been able to not only provide the children with food, clothing and supplies for school, but most importantly act as a source of encouragement and security, providing them with a newly found confidence and desire to pursue a brighter future. This transformation and emotional impact we have seen is nothing less than priceless.

With the situation worsening in the country, access to food has become more and more difficult for these kids. Without recourse or means to obtain food, they often go without eating. As a result we have started a daily alimentation program where we provide the group of kids with at least one meal a day, ensuring they aren’t completely without food and nourishment.

To be able to maintain this momentum and continue with our efforts we are reaching out and inviting you to join the cause by making a donation. Your support will have a big impact and will directly help to provide these kids with food and make more meaningful events possible. The money we raise will be used to buy food, personal care products, basic clothing and shoes, school supplies and fund activities aimed to cultivate good values, equip them with the tools to break the negative cycle of their surroundings and create positive change.

Soy un estadounidense apasionado y agradecido, convencido a ayudar a hacer una diferencia en la vida de los niños en abandonado que sufren en una de las zonas más pobres de Venezuela, que ha sido devastada debido a la crisis humanitaria que se está llevando a su país. Lamentablemente, esta noticia no ha llegado completamente al mundo entero y tenemos una oportunidad real de generar un impacto positivo en una población tan indefensa y necesitada.

En este momento, y durante los últimos años, Venezuela ha estado bajo el gobierno de una dictadura devastadora que ha llevado a una situación extrema en la que el acceso a alimentos, medicinas y atención médica básica se ha convertido en casi inexistente para la mayoría de la población. La tasa de inflación en Venezuela es la más alta del mundo, llegando a un inimaginable 1.370,000% a fines de 2018 y empeora cada día. La gente no solo se está muriendo de hambre, sino que hay una completa falta de seguridad, ya que la violencia es rampante debido a la desesperación. Es esta situación la que hace que nuestro apoyo sea tan importante y transformador en las vidas de los jóvenes más afectados.

Habiendo vivido en el país vecino de Panamá durante los últimos 7 años, he tenido experiencias de primera mano para conocer a un grupo diverso de venezolanos de diferentes entornos económicos y sociales, los cuales todos han huido de su país debido a la crisis. Han compartido conmigo sus historias de dejar atrás a sus seres queridos y amigos, sufriendo muchas muertes como resultado de la desnutrición, falta de medicamentos y la violencia.

Al estar muy impactado por estas personas y sus historias, me he visto obligado a tomar medidas y comencé un proyecto llamado "Sueña Mi Gente" que apunta a ayudar a los niños desfavorecidos y de alto riesgo en un área llamada "Petare". Con una población de 369,000, Petare no es solo uno de los barrios más grandes, pobres y más densamente habitados de Venezuela, sino que se considera uno de los barrios marginales más grandes del mundo. Con esto en mente, nace este proyecto con la idea de apoyar su bienestar y seguridad mediante la creación de entornos donde puedan aprender, explorar su creatividad, recibir una nutrición adecuada y sobre todo, brindarles la libertad de soñar. .

Gracias a las generosas donaciones recibidas en nuestra primera ronda de recaudación de fondos y la ayuda de un gran grupo de voluntarios apasionados con ideas afines que incluyen a residentes en el área, en nuestro primer año ya hemos podido crear muchos eventos muy exitosos. - Haga clic para ver fotos. Hemos visto cómo sus actitudes y perspectivas de vida han cambiado como resultado de ser parte de este proyecto. Han desarrollado un sentido más fuerte de comunidad y compasión por los demás. Además, no solo hemos podido proporcionar a los niños alimentos, ropa y artículos para la escuela, sino que además, lo que es más importante, son una fuente de estímulo y seguridad, brindándoles la confianza y el deseo de buscar un futuro mejor. Esta transformación y el impacto emocional que hemos visto, es invaluable.

Con el empeoramiento de la situación en el país, el acceso a los alimentos se ha vuelto cada vez más difícil para estos niños. Sin recurso ni medios para obtener alimentos, a menudo pasan sin comer. Como resultado, hemos comenzado un programa de alimentación diaria en el que proporcionamos al grupo de niños al menos una comida al día, asegurando que no estén completamente sin comida ni alimento.

Para poder mantener este impulso y continuar con nuestros esfuerzos, nos estamos acercando e invitando a unirse a la causa haciendo una donación.
