Help Send Eric Graves’ DI Teams to Global Finals

Two groups of students from Eric Graves Memorial Jr. High have recently won the chance to participate in the opportunity of a lifetime! The teams "DI Sci-Fi" and "The DInosaurs" had the highest scores overall in the Destination ImagiNation (DI) Regional tournament which was held at Auburn Dr. High School on March 24th. This earns them the position to represent Nova Scotia and compete at Global Finals in Knoxville Tennessee from May 23rd-28th.

What is Destination ImagiNation (DI)?

DI is the world's largest creative problem solving organization. It is an educational after-school activity in which students work in teams to solve open-ended challenges and present their solutions at tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of their challenges. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills -- they learn to unleash their imagination and take unique approaches to problem solving.

This is the Halifax Regional School Board's 3rd year offering the program and our students from Eric Graves will be representing Nova Scotia at this major event. At Global Finals, 14,000 participants from Canada, the US and more than 30 countries from around the world will showcase their creative solutions to their DI challenges.

Where will the funds go?

With your support, these Eric Graves' whiz-kids will go shoulder to shoulder with more than a thousand of the top-scoring teams from around the world. We cannot let this opportunity pass due to lack of funds. The students' incredible success comes with a hefty price tage, and we are hoping that you can help us take this trip of a lifetime. Although the trip is partially funded by the school board, there is still much to be raised in a very short amount of time. Any funds raised will be put towards offsetting the price of flights from NS to TN for 11 students and 2 chaperones.
