Help Purchase Essential Supplies For The Children Of Our Community Class

Our teaching volunteers do an amazing thing by giving up their time to come and help teach the children within our community class in Sri Lanka.

We are now needing to raise funds to help provide essential items to the children that attend, including backpacks, stationary, books, shoes and more!

At the moment we have anywhere between 70 and 80 children attend each and everyday between 15:00 and 18:00 to help progress their English and to learn other important subjects - and of course not forgetting the playing and having fun!

The children are aged between 6 and 15 and come from the nearby rural villages, referred to locally as the Tsunami Village. The area where we help assist the community was one of the worse hit areas by the Tsunami, leaving many families with nothing.

Many children simply don't have anything and we are hoping to fundraise funds to be able to provide them with all of the basic education supplies needed. They will be absolutely thrilled and we know that it will build their confidence to study even more! Not only this, but we believe it will encourage many others to come along to our free education classes, so having an even bigger impact!

It is thought that to purchase the needed supplies for all 80 children that attend, it will cost around £800.

I will be heading to Sri Lanka on the 4th of April and will be purchasing all supplies from the local town to then give to the children the following week. There will many updates on our TMR Srir Lanka Facebook group so you can see exactly where your money has gone and the children's reaction!
