My name is Zhihan. As a Singaporean, I had the privilege of volunteering in Bago City in central Philippines many years ago - perhaps some of you have too as part of your BHBH YEP.
As a result of COVID-19, many students in the Philippines are unable to continue learning from home. About 50% of them have no cellphone, and have to rely on radio, TV and printed materials from their teachers. However, teachers are ill-equipped. For example, in Ramon Torres National High School's math department, 27 teachers have to share 5 inkjet printers. Each week, each teacher will have to print about 3,300-4,500 copies of learning materials. Teachers are desperate to have the tools, most especially printers so that their students can get learning materials. As a whole, the sad reality is that there will be a "lost generation" of students; as many as 3 million students are not attending school because of COVID-19.
I hope to do a small part to help the school's math department get the printers they need so that their students can continue learning while the pandemic rages. I hope you can help them too. Thank you so much for reading and consideration.
*I will be transferring the funds directly to the school's math department coordinator, Melanie Sicabalo. Updates will be posted here.* If you have any questions, please reach me via whatsapp +65 96510782
