Help our cadets to FIDE World Cadet Chess Championships

As established Croatian news outlet Tportal has already described in more detail in the article "Little big hopes of chess: 'Fantastic four' from ŠK Novi Zagreb goes to the World Cadet Championship in Egypt", this year four of our young cadets are going to the world championship in chess for cadets: Natalie Osmanagić, Iva Vouk and Luka Živić in the category under 10 years and Sonja Stanković in the category under 12 years.

Since we are talking about children from 9 to 11 years old, one of the parents must travel with each of them. According to the existing rules of the Croatian Chess Federation, Natalie Osmanagić, as last year's champion of Croatia under the age of 9, has her travel and accommodation expenses covered, while her mandatory escort must bear the costs of their own travel and accommodation. Iva Vouk, this year's champion of Croatia up to 9 years old, and although her travel expenses will be covered next year, neither is her escort this year. Luka Živić and Sonja Stanković have also been achieving notable results for a number of years and are among best chess players in Croatia in their categories, and they also have to cover the costs of representing Croatia at the World Championship by themselves.

Due to the specificity of chess as a sport, the world championship lasts 13 days and accommodation in the official hotel of the organizer is necessary, so the plane ticket and accommodation make up practically the entire cost of approx. 2,000 EUR per person. As we do not have expenses covered for seven people, we need EUR 14,000 to cover that expense, and we are asking for your help in the form of a donation. In case we collect more than the requested amount, we will use the rest for further development projects of the chess club, which you can follow on the website www.sknovizagreb.hr.
