Help my dad keep the lights on

Hi there

I am reaching out for help on behalf of my retired dad. He is almost 70 and hit on some hard times after losing his wife of 30 years. He was struggling financially and is now in arrears on his municipality account. We, his children have tried helping as much as we can, but we have our own financial difficulties as well, I am a single parent, pre school teacher raising my son after being left with debt by my ex. My dad made an arrangement to pay off the arrears, and has been doing so, yet in order to make payment plans with the City of Cape Town, they require R3500 every 3 months. This is impossible for him to do as he receives a minimum pension, and does not work anymore due to poor eyesight. The municipality have no compassion and will not listen to his pleas and have even cut off his electricity at one point. He is having a really tough time at the moment, has gone into debt review, his car has broken down and he can't afford to fix it. I really want to help him as the last few years have been really tough, and after over 40 years of paying all his bills on time every single month, he is losing hope and I am out of options or ideas.

So I'm respectfully asking for any help anyone can give. I know this isn't life threatening, but it would mean so much, and take so much stress and worry away from him in his retirement years.

Please, any amount no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.
