Every day is a roller coaster for Mega. He had two blood trusfusion, persistent high fever and his pcv is also dropping. Subsequently he developed flu and gum problem which he could not eat. Pain relief is given. The clinic have done everything but it seems he did not improve. They suggested us to discharge him thus we board him for palliative medical boarding hoping for the best.

On 7/10, Mega has left us. Thank you everyone that helped.

Life as a stray has always been precarious. It’s a careful balance of staying alive and staying out of trouble. One wrong step, a stray finds itself in a life and death situation. Sadly, there are still many cases that slip past us everyday.

Today, we have Mega. He is an affectionate resident at a restricted Changi area and all his life he’s only know that to be his home. Never difficult to feed, always lovable but alas, he was forced to evacuate. He was one of the lucky few that found a foster home quite quickly due to his lovely temperament but that turned out to be a nightmare when he escape out from the gate(cat proofed house) and fell from the corridor. Mega had fractured his leg.

Off we went to the vet to fix the negligence. Very unnecessary indeed, but we dont have time to look back as treating Mega is our top priority for now.

To fix his fracture, a pin was inserted into his hind leg. Mega was on the mend and we were most happy that he was going to be alright at the end of the day. However, things took a turn for the worse that very same week.

The pin was not accepted by Mega’s little and already weak body. The site begun to turn red and soon, the pin pushed itself out of the body and it was a great deal of trauma for little Mega. To make matters worse, the vet was not available immediately to do the removal and there will be a delay of 48 hours.

We took a gamble and switched vets the same day. An X-ray confirmed our suspicions (and worst nightmare) that the bone that the pin was suppose to hold up, had splintered and he seems like suffering from a bone infection. The placement of the pin was off. So we did an emergency removal of the pin and Mega spiraled down to the rabbit hole.

As we looked on anxiously, his blood count dropped to a dangerous 6% and was at risk of dropping lower. He was listless, there wasn’t a sign of life in his eyes. We knew the infection had got him and we were wrestling with the grim reaper to get him back.

After a quick round of discussion, blood transfusion was arranged. This expensive procedure turned out to be the best one we made after switching vets. His blood count rocketed from 6% to 22% and slowly, he was regaining consciousness.

Being a FELV+ cat, Mega is not out from the woods, he’s at MP JG for close monitoring and the plan is to fix the fracture with a plate so that he can regain his mobility once he is stabilised. Estimated cost to be around 5k. His caregivers cannot sustain his bills any longer and is asking for contributions from public to help Mega.

Mega is just a 8 months old kitten, the amount of mishaps were far too much for one cat to experience. We would really like the community to band together to help save this precious life.

Every bit counts, no amount is too little to save Mega.

Thank you for allowing us to be your workers to spread your love and kindness to this needy kitty.
