Hello, I am Dia – I'm 22. Growing up in a humble family, I aspired to escape poverty. After completing high school at 17, I decided to work. Over four years, I saved up to pursue my studies in China, viewing it as the most achievable path to success. Securing a partial scholarship from an external agency, we only cover accommodation and food expenses, not tuition fees. I also planned to take part-time jobs in China to support myself. Unfortunately, upon arriving, the university informed us that it was against the law for international students to work. I was surprised and explored the possibility of an exception, but they insisted on the legal restrictions. I risked being expelled from the university and sent back to our country if caught working. With the cost of the plane ticket, the purchase of student insurance, the student visa fee, and the cost of books and school supplies, I have almost exhausted all our resources to survive.

The university is asking me to pay for accommodation fees, as the first semester is over. I asked my family and friends for help, but they couldn't. I understand they have their issues too. Still, I can't afford it. I have already asked for an extension of payment twice and have been granted until March 1. I know it might sound selfish, but I really need your help to keep pursuing my dreams here. I love my life here, despite some language challenges. The people I've met make it feel like this is the right place for me. Your support would mean a lot.
