After spending the last 4 years studying engineering, it is time for me to give back! I was fortunate enough to get loans that provided the means to go to school and complete my degree. I am a firm believer that education is priceless therefore I am supporting Hug It Forward through the WorldVentures Foundation to go to Guatemala and help build a "Bottle School."
What is a "Bottle School" you ask? A "Bottle School" consists of thousands of plastic bottles (filled with trash bags, grocery bags and other inorganic trash) stacked on top of each other, and sandwiched between chicken wire. The kids in the village participate by collecting the bottles and stuffing them. After forming the walls out of this "trash", cement is used to coat the walls. When finished the village has an eco-friendly, cost-effective school to provide education to their children.
In order to participate in this amazing opportunity, I must raise enough money to cover a donation, transportation, and the organized trip cost. During my stay I will have the chance to work along side the village and children constructing a "Bottle School" as well as learning about the local culture, history, and interacting with the community.
Any and all assistance is appreciated in making this opportunity a reality. I believe this an absolute trip of a lifetime and am committed to going in June 13-19, 2013! I hope you understand and can appreciate the cause I am supporting. Thank you for your time and donations!
