Hello. My name is Bianca and I'm a postgraduate student at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. I'm currently studying Archaeobotany, a part of Archaeology that studies plant use, and I need some help funding my registration fees. I'm trying to register for my new year of studying Archaeobotany but unfortunately I'm struggling to find the finance to register and I would really appreciate your support.
I am a dedicated and hardworking student who has achieved academic merit in the past and who has a provisional acceptance to the doctoral program. I have applied to a number of scholarships but unfortunately no luck yet. I do work part-time for the University's Archaeology department as a lab assistant but I cannot starting earning money again to help me pay my tuition until I am registered, a bit of a catch-22. I love what I study immensely but cannot register due to lack of funds and would very much love to carry on.
Background to my studies: Currently I'm wrapping on the last little bits of my MA dissertation which was concerned with the potential uses plants were put to at the Middle Iron Age (13th Century) of Mutamba in the Soutpansberg. Using burned and dried seeds I've found evidence for the plants they may have used for food, beer and cotton cloth weaving. My doctoral studies would expand on this by not only looking at one archaeological site but six. I would also be hopefully learning how to analyse starch grains, phytoliths (silica grains that form in plant cells) and pollen in order to understand how plants were used based on time, place, politics, gender etc and also how plants were used in everyday matters such as food and beer.
I would deeply appreciate any help as every little bit helps and my studies are of great importance to me. I would like to thank you for reading this and any contributions you could make.
