Help Me Keep Aladdin

My name is Darnesha Randle. I am a current high school senior in St. Louis, MO attending Hazelwood Central High School. I have a 3.88 un-weighted GPA and a 28 composite score on my ACT. I hope to attend my dream school Iowa State University in the Fall of 2016 where I plan to major in Aerospace Engineering on the Pre- Medical track.

I am writing to ask for your support of my Gofundme campaign. After getting in an accident while riding home on the bus from school, I was diagnosed with a Grade 3 Concussion. The doctors suggested that my parents get me a dog to help nurse me back to health. Thus, my dog Aladdin was brought into my life. Due to unforeseen circumstances my family will be moving this summer. The new apartment they are moving to doesn’t allow dogs. They told me that I will have to give Aladdin back to the shelter where they got him from. After, having Aladdin in my life for almost 4 years, I can’t imagine my life without him. When I come from school after having a bad day, I look into his eyes and I feel happy. I am creating this campaign so that I can keep my dog.

After subtracting the total amount of scholarships and grants I received, I still have to pay $10,000 to attend Iowa State University. This is the cost of on campus housing. By supporting this campaign, I will be able to not only keep my dog by getting an apartment off campus that allows pets, but also avoid getting into college debt since I will no longer need to take out the loan.

My goal is to receive $25,000. This money will cover the cost of 12 months’ rent. I plan to get my first job once I have settled into life at my university, having enough money for 12 months’ rent will give me time to get a job and begin saving money so that I can start paying for rent. The money will also cover the onetime pet fee associated with the apartment, the required pet rent to be paid on a monthly basis, furnishing for the apartment, and updating my dog’s vaccinations. I appreciate all donations toward my campaign; just $5 can make a really big difference.
