Help me help those in need

I am currently in urgent need of assistance in offsetting transportation costs for delivering meals to needy people.  

Hi.  My name is Dee & I am a personal chef.  Since I started my business, I have regularly been "buying back" leftovers from my clients or making extra when I cook for myself & my family.  I then take this extra food & deliver it to home bound and/or ill people in my community (or that I find out about through friends) or homeless camps.  I enjoy doing it and I don't mind taking on the expense of the food or preparation.  As more people have learned about me doing this, obviously, I've found out about more people who could use the assistance & the costs continue to rise.

As the need rises, so do the transportation costs

Right now, I've found myself in a position where the increasing transportation cost is becoming difficult to absorb. I do not want to turn anyone away - especially when I have the meals available - and the need is so great.  And, I do work within a small geographical radius, trying to combine trips as much as possible.  I have some long term ideas on how to better be able to cover these costs - but, they are long term solutions & not something that can help immediately.

Why this is important & how you can help me help more people

The more money I raise to help offset transportation costs, the more people that are in need I will be able to help (with your help!).  Currently, as I mentioned above, I find elderly, homebound, ill (critically or chronically) people living at home, and homeless people that aren't utilizing shelters regularly.

An example of someone I help is a person who was diagnosed with cancer, has been through chemotherapy & radiation & is simply too weak to cook for himself.  My delivering meals helps both him and his family by alleviating some of their stress by simply providing a meal sometimes.  

MANY of the homeless that I've been delivering to are US military veterans.  It's an honor to me to be able to give them something so small as a delicious meal for what they were willing to sacrifice for our country.  In this small way, I feel like they know that there are people who truly value their service & what they've given to this country.
