I am trying to follow my dream of becoming an animator particularly in 2d animation. At the end of 2019 I quit my job, of 12 years, in retail to pursue this dream using my severance as a means to fund my studies and support my family of four. The Covid-19 pandemic gutted this plan and all my funds went into keeping my family afloat as my wife who works in the hospitality industry and is self employed was unable to produce any income due various government mandates with relation to the pandemic. No income came in for 6+ months. As a result I have had a hard time finding a any upside to anything of late. This is my last ditch effort to pursue my dream as I'm 37 years of age and finding funding for someone of my age and demographic has proven fruitless. I dream one day of creating local animation shows for the South African and International market (e.g. Cowboy Bepop, DC animated Universe etc.) ,advertising (particularly for books and the book industry) and ranging into comics. Eventually with the final goal of one day providing educational stimulus for school kids from grade 6 through to matric focusing mainly uplifting poorer communities that may typically not have access training focusing on animation and illustration. I want to offer theses kids and young adults access to a field that I myself have found difficult to enter. I have the talent but not the skills and I am desperate to learn. With competence comes confidence and with confidence comes competence.
I know this is a long testimonial but I don't want my story to become someone else's story. I want to make myself proud, my children proud and one day help others find their pride.

Institute I Wish To Study AtUpdate posted by Brendon Scott at 12:15 pm
The institute in question is the Academic Institute of Excellence in Salt River Cape Town. They provide you with the hardware which is included in the college fees and is surprisingly cheap versus other courses elsewhere. The course is only ten months but still this would be a good launch point
