HELP ME BECOME A VETERINARY NURSE!!!

My name is Lora and I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I am a mum to 1 human and currently 4 rat babies (they call me a crazy rat lady) and I would like raise funds to help me follow my dream of becoming a Veterinary Nurse.

My story:

I have had a love for animals my entire life, and I wish that a career in the Veterinary Industry was something that I had started earlier. But better late than never! For many years I pursued my other dream, and that was to become a pilot, but unfortunately I was unable to follow that path. Between then and now I have worked in many different industries, but I never felt like I had found my true calling. That was until I had my daughter. After she was born, a new me woke inside and I decided to follow that passion that had been burning deep down inside all along; to work with animals.

I am currently employed in a Vet Shop where we have to advise customers on pet nutrition and over the counter medication, however I have a yearning to know and do more. I have always had a fascination for medicine and after some research I have got my heart set on Veterinary Nursing.

I also co-run a domestic rat rescue called Boggle and Brux where we rescue, foster, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted or abused domestic rats, and provide a network of contacts for other small animals.

Unfortunately, in South Africa there is only one University where you can study to become a Vet Nurse, and this is on the other side of the country to where I live. I am unable to relocate due to family circumstances nor can I attend a full-time course as I need to work. So, after a lot of research, I discovered the Australian Certificate IV in Vet Nursing, which can and has been done by South African and International students. This qualification is also recognised by many regulatory bodies the world over.

Whilst studying I will have to work in a Veterinary Practice for a defined period of time, but once I am qualified my heart is set on volunteering at and working for animal welfare's in and around Cape Town. South Africa is rife with animal abuse and neglect and we have so many charities who do wonderful work but are limited by funds. So with this qualification I will volunteer my time and expertise to help these animals.

Where will the money go?

I am currently unable to fund this course myself, hence why I am pulling out all the stops to try and make my dream a reality.

The money will go towards completing the ACM40412 Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing which is approximately AUS$ 6500.

Any extra funds I would like to use to donate to various Animal Charities in and around Cape Town, the same charities where I hope to volunteer as a vet nurse once qualified.

I have applied for the Certificate IV offered by APPVOC (https://www.appvoc.com/certificate-iv-in-veterinary-nursing-acm40412/).

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I welcome any questions. I would also be hugely grateful if you could share this with more people to help me reach my goal.
