Help Mama Fight Cancer

A few weeks before I left the Philippines to start my PhD studies in the US, my Mama, Natalia, was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. She went through two sessions of chemotherapy at the Lung Center of the Philippines, but was unresponsive. Her latest PET scan also showed new tumor growth. She had to shift to aclitinib (Alecensa), an oral targeted therapy for ALK+ non-small-cell lung cancer. We enrolled her to the Roche Assistance Program, and were granted a discounted cost of 19,000PHP per bottle. She needs one bottle per week. If she responds well, she has to continue with aclitinib for one year.

The costs of her medicines and lab tests are far beyond what we can shoulder. We have also asked assistance from government agencies, and foundations but have not secured the amount needed for the coming months.
