Projeto Chiquinho is an NGO located in Serra Central Carapina Brazil that provides a safe environment for children to experience cultural and living experiences whilst focusing on developing a sense of belonging and identity within them, strengthening family ties and encouraging socialisation and community coexistence.
After realising the severity of drugs and prostitution in the local area, Founder Dona Dora created Projeto Chiquinho as an attempt to diminish the number of children affected and killed by it. It started off in 1990 with the attendance of three children. Later, with the help of donations, the organisation was able to grow and provide a safe place for over 100 children and young teenagers.
The main focus of the organisation is to support kids from ages 2 to 15 who demand care due to family difficulties and social vulnerability. Projeto Chiquinho provides them with a guaranteed meal per day, Portuguese and English lessons, and creative art activities (e.g Capoeira). These activities aim to enhance solidarity, mutual respect and to identify their potential, skills and talents.
The organisation survives solely on the generosity of people through donations of books, toys, furniture and money. The money is used to pay for food, cleaning and other bills like electricity and water.
Unfortunately, after 30 years of providing support for these children, it is the time when Projeto Chiquinho needs your help to pay for food and furnitures.
Therefore, we have started the Campaign in order to make a difference in the lives of these children and help Dona Dora realize her dream
Thank you for supporting Projeto Chiquinho!
