Campaign Story
Let met start at the beginning so everyone can appreciate this husband, father and grand father for the amazing person that he is.
Being the 7th child of 10 in a single income family, opportunities to study for degree etc was not really an option. However my dad made the best of the situation and went straight to work. As he got older life happened. He married the love of his life and was blessed with 4 children. Although times were tough my dad always went the extra mile to support his family. There were days I remember my dad walked up to 30km just to make sure there was food on the table.
35 years on and what seemed as a harmless pimple progressed in a very short period of time to a life threatening tumor.
Prognoses : He has been given a very very small window of time in which he can have this tumor removed. If he does not have the surgery within the next 4-8 weeks. There is not much chance that they will be able to remove it at all. I have attached the final report that we have with the full diagnoses as well as all the scans that we have.
Treatment : He needs to undergo a very difficult and very long surgery. They will be removing the bottom part of his right ear and then all damaged tissue around it. They will then have to "relocate" some flesh from another area of his body to the section in his face and neck that was removed and then they have to do a skin graph on the effected area. After successfull surgery he will need to undergo radiotherapy as well.
Cost: The quotes that we have received from the Doctors totals to approx R500 000.00. The amount may vary depending on the amount of time he needs to spend in hospital after the surgery.
As my dad does not have medical aid this is a desperate plea for help. We have tried public hospital twice. The first time he was turned around at the theater door because his ICU bed was re-allocated. The second time the doctor didn't pitch up.
Words cannot even begin to describe the emotional roller-coaster.
