Campaign Story
Help me get to Peru!
Why Peru? Peru is an extremely diverse country both ethnically and geographically. People living in the remote mountains are as isolated as the many who live in remote jungles. I was once a correspondent for a missions magazine and have worked in both, and I know how infrequently the gospel finds its way to the forgotten masses. With your help, we can change that.
Our team will backpack into some remote villagesin the rugged Andes mountains in Southern Peru. Since so many of the people we'll encounter are Quechua language speakers, we plan to publicly read Scripture in both Spanish and Quechua in the town square, share the gospel one-on-one and in small groups, and also do demographic and spiritual surveys so that future mission teams can know how to serve these often neglected people. These future teams will likely include medical, dental and other types of compassion ministries. Along the way we'll also encourage and disciple any believers we encounter.
How will your financial contribution be used? Most of the funds will be used for round-trip air transportation from Nashville, to Houston, to Lima, to Arequipa. From Arequipa we'll travel by bus about 8-9 hours to the beginning of the hike to the villages. The rest of the money will be used for incidentals like backpacking food, hostel lodging, and other such expenses. The urgency in raising the funds by the end of February is to secure the most affordable airline ticket possible.
In the Book of Romans (ch. 10), Paul writes "But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
With your help, we can take The Good News to where it rarely travels. Thanks in advance for both your prayers for our team and any financial contribute you're able to make.

Pounding the Natchez Trace
Update posted by Chris Turner at 12:00 amHey, a big thanks again to all of you who have contributed. I can't express my appreciation deeply enough. Just an update on preparation. I had a chance to get out on the Old Natchez Trace today and do some serious trail pounding in a new pair of Merrell hiking. . . . .
