Race to the Finish Foundation, Inc. (RFF) was founded in 2014. We are an Ohio based 501(c) (3) non-profit off the track thoroughbred rescue, retraining and rehoming program. We assist retiring racehorses, which are in jeopardy of facing an unlucky and not-so fortunate future, the second chance at a rewarding career and content extended life. Our goal is to provide a safe environment where these intelligent animals can be retrained for their new career. Many of these horses will go on to become sport horses, hunter/jumpers, eventers, dressage mounts, trail/pleasure horses and companions.
Recently one of our newly rescued racehorse My Chaparral AKA "Sam" decided to attempt to jump over his pasture fence and impaled his abdominal/groin area. We found him lying in his pasture bleeding. We were able to get this poor guy up and moved to the barn to assess his injuries. He had a degloving injury to his groin...oh my how painful for him. A local vet came out after hours to treat him, Dr Bret F. Ellis from Veterinary Associates in Xenia, OH. Once Dr. Ellis examined Sam, his treatment plan was decided and Dr. Ellis prescribed numerous medications and wound care.
Our foundation is in desperate need of funding to pay for Sam's Medical bills. All of our current donations go toward caring for and re-training our retired racehorses. Currently we are unable to afford to care for horses that need extensive medical care or rehab, but ethically, caring for Sam's injuries is the right thing to do. Please go to our website at www.racetothefinish.org and read about our charity and mission. You can also visit our Facebook page to keep up to date with our day to day activities.
All donations made to RFF are tax deductible and 100% of all donations go toward the care, retraining and re-homing of these awesome animals.
