Title

Kiln

Genre

Drama and romance.

Theme

Lost art and first love.

Our Logline:

A man reconnects with his first love when they meet for the first time after many years. They reflect on their relationship as the place they have shared their memories in is closing down.

Our Story:

A visit to a dragon kiln ignites the bond between two teenagers. A shy young boy living in the footsteps of his father meets a free-spirited girl who does as she pleases without a care in the world. They find themselves intertwined in a journey of discovering love for the first time. However, they are separated when her short visit comes to an end. The two reconnect much later and reflect on the kiln that is closing down.

Purpose:

We want to highlight about pottery which is a art form that is fading away. Your first love will always hold a special place in your heart. So we want to reminisce about the innocence of falling in love when you are young and naive.

Who are we?

We are a group of eight Year 3 students from Film, Sound & Video, Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Together, we make Take 5 Production. Our short film's working title is "A Kiln Story."

About our shoot?

Since this is for school's final project, the school will provide us with some equipment. We are only allowed to take out said equipment between 7 January and 14 January 2019. Hence, our shoot will between 7 January and 14 January 2019.

Why $3,000?

Our budget is $11,000 but we are trying to raise $3,000 from GetGoFunding. Our total budget is broken down into six categories; cast, location, art department, camera & lighting department, transport and welfare.

CAST
Since our story will be set in the past (1980s) and in the present, there will be 5 characters in our film. Also, our shoot will be 7 days . So we have been informed that their rates will be higher.

LOCATION
Currently, we have two primary locations for our story. Not only are we using the locations to suit the mood of our film, we will be paying them for using their resources such as electricity and the space.

ART DEPARTMENT
Like mentioned in CAST, our film is set in the past (1980s) and in the present. We will need to dress our location and cast appropriately for the different years.

CAMERA & LIGHTING CREW

We have been studying film for the three years. We have come a long way and learnt so much. We would like to apply what we have learnt to our final project. Our school will provide us with some equipment to shoot. Since this shoot is a bigger scale, we will need to rent some equipment.

TRANSPORT
In school, we were taught of a rule on set. The 7 - 11 rule. It's for our cast and crew. They will be allowed to reimburse their transportation fare if they are required to be on set before 0700hrs or after 2300hrs. We have planned our shooting schedule whereby not all of our shoot days will be held overnight. Also, we need transportation for our equipment.

WELFARE
Resources such as food and water are needed on set. The estimated number of people on set is 30 people. We need to provide meals, water and basic medical aid while they are on our set.

Who is funding the film now?

All eight of us are forking out money to fund our film. As we are all full time students in our final year, it is difficult to get full time jobs to cover the cost of our film. However, we are very passionate of our short film and we stand by it.

How will we thank our sponsors?

The Intellectual Property (IP) of all our films belongs to Ngee Ann Polytechnic. So we will not be able to give out our IP. However, we are allowed to give permission to our sponsors to screen our short film. We will credit our sponsors in our film. We also intend on sending our short film to film festivals for screening. After the the post production of our film, we would like to meet up with our sponsors to personally thank them for donating. We are afraid to inform that we will only be able to meet our sponsors from Singapore. We appreciate your support and donations!
