Help fund a computer for a friend!

Hello there, everyone!

I'm writing this on behalf of very a good and close friend, whom you may know on the internet as Naiad, and before that Latonu. To those who are his friend whist not knowing the whole of the situation, I'll go ahead and explain it in brief:

Naiad relies on the use of a computer for the majority of his communications with his friends, through the internet or via gaming. However, earlier this spring, his only remaining computer, that being his laptop, was ruined prematurely due to water damage (as his previous desktop computer had keeled over the year before due to its age.) His family is not financially stable enough to afford a new computer for him due to their more pressing needs, and Naiad himself, due to multiple surgeries he has undergone to correct a severe irregularity in his heartbeat, is rendered effectively ineligable for work. Thus, he has needed to rely on the charity of others in order to acquire a new computer. Though he was very close to being able to afford one thanks to the generosity of a friend, that same friend was forced to back out at the last moment, leaving Naiad once again without any possibility of reconnecting with his friends.

If possible, I wold like to change that.

I have gotten in contact with one of Naiad's other friends, who has planned with him to construct a computer from scratch, as it is the more affordable route to buying a prebuilt system. However, the cheapest reasonable build is still outside of reasonable reach-- alone.

This build isn't optimal, but it's something that would last Naiad a good while. With all of that build in total, the price we're aiming for is approximately $700. (This accounts for the 7% of funds taken by GoGetFunding and Paypal fees, whereas the price of the equipment in question is approximately $650.)

Please, keep in mind that $700 is our minimum! If it is possible to raise more money to acquire better parts, we will happily take that opportunity to ensure Naiad is capable of having a better-quality computer! As such, please do not be discouraged from contributing just because the minimum goal has been reached!

I care very deeply for my friend, and I feel a great need to help him through this sudden deprivation of hope. Be it a humble goal, I must thank those who helped to compile the information regarding the computer parts and other relevant points.

I recognize there is an issue of trust in this fundraiser, and so, I will make it my duty to keep everyone contributing updated on the progress of the computer, reaching goals, and of course when enough money might have been reached that a cheaper computer part has become replacable with a better piece of equipment.

If you are a friend of Naiad/Latonu, and you know other friends who could be willing to contribute, at least ensure they are able to give the information to as many able parties as possible. We want to try to do the best we can for him, and your help in spreading the word is vital to ensuring this!
