As many of you know, Gramps was a rescue pug and came to stay at BubbleBeccaPugs Nov 2012. Gramps came with to us in a bad state along with a heart condition (Pericardial Effusion) . Already Gramps has undergone 2 major heart procedures in order to drain the bleed from his pericardial sack. Once in 2013 and his second in 2014. Unfortunately this has been unsuccessful and now Gramps desperately requires another major operation to remove his pericardial sack which will eliminate any problems of this ever happening again. Gramps is a BIG part of our family, friends and followers lives who now desperately needs our help.
Sorry for the delayed update. Yesterday we went to collect Gramps up after being at Liverpool small animal hospital for five days. Straight away we could tell he was a different dog. He has a spring in his step and very playful. We was both overwhelmed to see each other. It was a totally amazing feeling to see him and to have him back where he belongs. It's made our Christmas
Again, thank you all so much. Please keep following Gramps & The Grumble via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
Today Gramps' specialist called with Gramps' update. this morning they removed his drain and the specialist is extremely impressed with his recovery. He's eating, drinking and has been out to do his business !
Gramps will be allowed home tomorrow. LSAH will call in the morning to arrange his discharge time.
We are so pleased and excited to have him home safely where he belongs. We've missed him so much and tomorrow a big part of our lives will be complete again.
We are so overwhelmed by how everyone has helped with their thoughts, prayers, kind words and your generous donations. I can't thank you all enough. To have Gramps back home safe and well is the best Christmas gift I could have ever wished for.
Gramps received his heart surgery this morning at 10am to remove his pericardial sack. The operation was high risk and done via keyhole surgery but Gramps made it through. Gramps will still need to remain in intensive care for the next two days. Hopeful we'll be allowed to visit him tomorrow (Thursday)
Thank you all again so much for all your prayers, kind words and donations. You've all made this possible and we can't thank you enough. We want him back home safe
Gramps has had a restful night at the Liverpool small animal hospital after undergoing blood test to rule out cancer ( CLEAR ) and a pericardial drain to remove the fluid / pressure build up around the heart.
Gramps will spend the rest of today resting in preparation for his surgery tomorrow.
At 11am Gramps was taken to Liverpool small animal veterinarian school where he will under go tests (Bloods, ECG etc.) before his major operation which is scheduled for Wednesday. The team at LSAVH are incredible and Gramps is receiving the best possible care and treatment available. I can’t thank you all enough for making this possible for him. I will update you all this evening when we receive a update on Gramps.
Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts. It's amazing that in just over 24hrs you all have help to raise enough for Gramps to have his life saving heart operation.
Tomorrow (Mon 14th Dec) first thing, Gramps will be taken to The Vests Place in Wilmslow (Cheshire, UK), where he will be assessed before heading off to Liverpool Animal Hospital for the best possible treatment and care available. Please keep Gramps in your hearts while he undergoes his major surgery. We will keep you all updated on the way. All our love, Becca, Gramps & The Grumble
