My cousin Emily Finazzo, a vibrant 33-year-old, faced an unexpected and life-altering accident on September 8th, 2023, when she was rear-ended on Highway 271 N. This collision resulted in a severe C5-C6 neck injury, necessitating extensive surgery to repair the damage.

Before the accident Emily stayed very active through hiking, biking and was always down for a casual game of disc golf with friends. She worked hard as a pharmacy technician for over ten years.

Following the surgery, Emily spent two long weeks in the ICU. Through unwavering determination and the support of her loving family, she has since embarked on a journey of rehabilitation. The accident caused a spinal cord injury that has left her immobilized from the shoulders down, which has drastically altered her day-to-day life.

Despite the immense hurdles she faced, Emily has shown incredible resilience and determination during her ongoing rehabilitation. Her courage has been truly inspirational, and she has been making remarkable progress each day. Emily is not one to seek sympathy; she is a resilient soul who is very focused on regaining her independence.

However; the reality is that for now, she now relies on a wheelchair for mobility, and her family faces the pressing need to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van to accommodate her needs. Emily's focus is on regaining her independence, and she remains committed to embracing life to the fullest. That's where we come in.

We are beginning this donation campaign because the cost of a specially wheelchair adapted van is substantial. We are reaching out to the community and beyond, on Emily’s behalf, for your assistance in raising funds to help Emily regain the freedom and mobility she so deserves.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant impact on Emily's life. Your support will help her and our family overcome the financial challenges that come with adapting to her new circumstances. Let's come together to make life a little easier for Emily and her family during this challenging time. Emily's strength and unwavering spirit are an inspiration to us all. Let's rally around her and provide the tools she needs to regain her independence.

Your generous donations will be used solely for the purchase of the van, ramp, and any necessary home modifications to ensure it meets Emily's specific needs. We appreciate your support in making a tangible difference in her life.

We sincerely appreciate your consideration and support. Please share this campaign with your friends and family to help us reach our goal.

Thank you for being a part of Emily's support network.

From Emily: "On September 8th, my life completely changed when I was rear ended in an accident so bad that I am grateful to even be alive. I was taken to Hillcrest, underwent extensive spinal cord surgery, and spent 2 weeks there in the ICU. I had 2 fractured vertebrae, 11 broken ribs, and a large laceration around my head. The spinal cord injury has left me paralyzed from the chest down. For the last 3 weeks, I’ve been at one of the top spinal cord injury rehabilitation centers working extremely hard to regain as much strength as I can. My family and friends have offered unwavering support throughout this entire journey for which I will be forever grateful. After experiencing such a traumatic event I want to remind everyone not to take anything in life for granted. Your life can change in an instant."
