Saskatoon's favourite burlesque, poet, and roller-derby queen Elise Pallagi has been offered a place at the 2018 One Yellow Rabbit Summer Lab Intensive in order to pursue her dream of creating her first play. In order to make this dream a reality Elise needs our help! As is often the case, great opportunities come with a great big price tag that can be a barrier for renegade artists like Elise, which is why we are asking for your help.
Elise needs to provide an $800 deposit to hold her space in the program right away, and then supply the remaining $800 tuition upon arrival, as well as additional travel and living costs associated with staying in Calgary for the 3 week program. We have conservatively estimated that number at $2,000, however any funds raised above and beyond that base amount will assist her pursue more opportunities she has lined up this summer.
If you are not able to contribute financially, but would like to support Elise with your talents we are hosting a fundraising event Saturday June 2nd at Witch Mansion. Please contact Bethani or Duncan to be added to the bill.
About One Yellow Rabbit:
Once a punk rebel upstart troupe of ‘creatives’ – actors, writers, poets, jugglers, musicians and a dancer – on the cusp of a cultural renaissance that was Calgary. Over 35 years OYR has shape-shifted into a cultural treasure that transcends the narrow geographical boundaries of city and nation. More tenacious. More fearless than even in 1982 when they got this party started – One Yellow Rabbit is in the house. And we’re here to stay.
Established in 1997, the Summer Lab Intensive is an unconventional three-week master class for actors, writers, directors, dancers and all other artists interested in performance-based creative practice. The Lab teaches performance creation techniques, enhances your performance skills and stimulates your imagination. Throughout the process, we aim to fascinate, motivate and initiate your creative abilities – the experience is about transformation.
With a mixture of emerging and established artists, the Summer Lab Intensive uses an integrated approach during the teaching process with the emphasis on exploring individual personal aesthetic. Instructors work closely with artists to provide a truly meaningful experience.
