Having spent many years in active drug addiction, I was blessed with the opportunity to go to rehab in 2013. For the next 3 years I dedicated myself to developing who I was, whom I wanted to be and understanding exactly what drove me to my addiction. Having had the privilege of working with an amazing counsellor, I found a deep desire to assist others whose lives had become riddled with addiction. During my time at Healing Wings Rehabilitation center, I served as a Step Work Counsellor and Ran the kitchen, which again fired my passion to bind the broken hearted and bring beauty to ashes. I was given the opportunity to develop into an addictions primary counsellor. This was where I thrived as a new, whole person. I realised that this was my purpose and what I needed to do for the rest of my life. There is something humbling about walking a journey with someone, who is faced with extreme adversity and personal pain, from absolute brokenness to restoration. This has become my motivation in life. After my stay in rehab, I reintegrated back into society, through the only way I knew I was called, by developing the community around me. I continued to work with Addicts in a halfway house, and assisted with free addiction support from home for those in active addiction, secondary care and assisting with families exposed to addiction. I joined the CPF in 2016 assisting with building a model to assist the sex workers in the area. This model was to assist them in understanding their worth and in turn assisting with skills development. I then challenged myself further in assisting the CPF in building a trauma support team. Crime is rapidly growing and often victims are left to their own methods to find healing. We assist to offer coping skills and first hand debriefing. My journey in the last 3 years has been incredible, I have come to believe that mental health support should never be ignored due to the ever looming bill.

With this new belief at the forefront of my efforts, I have now decided to become more qualified and expand my scope of assistance to those who so dearly need it. I am appealing to those who know me, or those who identify with my belief to assist me in furthering my studies with ACCSA - Addictions Counsellor Certification South Africa.
