Help Dad recover from a fractured skull & traumatic brain injury

Martin’s Story

On 8th of January Martin went to his workplace, despite not being paid for the previous month. The company took advantage of his kind nature and high work ethic. Whilst at work he fell and hit his head on a plinth where he sustained a base of skull fracture, intracranial bleed and subdural hemorrhage. Due to his inconsistent payments from work, he does not have medical insurance and was admitted into a public hospital where he is lucky to be alive due to the lack of care and total disregard for basic human rights.

His daughter, son and ex wife (mother of his children) had to drive 1 hour to visit him and then 1 hour back home. His daughter is unemployed and has 3 small children and his son is currently immigrating. After 20 days, the hospital discharged him even though he was not able to sit up, stand or walk alone, he is in adult diapers and has very low cognitive function. The hospital told his daughter that it was not their problem and she would need to collect him and find him 24 hour care. (on top of this, his daughter had just been discharged from hospital from an appendectomy). She arranged an ambulance service to assist her to get Martin out of hospital and has since found a frail care centre who have taken him in with the 24 hour care required. He is only 67 years old!

However, he can only stay there for another month as there is no funding for his ongoing care.

He urgently needs medical tests to assess if the fracture is healing and or the bleeding on the brain has resolved.

He needs medication.
